Discovering Saphos and Alkaios’ island we will end up at the center of the island where the Iero Meson was established in the early years. Its name is due to its location in the middle of the island. The Iero Meson from the 6th century BC was a center of religious worship and pilgrims from all parts of Lesvos and from the cities of the Asia Minor coast. According to Alkaios modeling combined with dances were taking place there glorifying the beauty accompanied by Sapphos’ lyre. Continuing we will visit the area of nature in the Kalloni Salts gulf and we will go to the Museum of Industrial Olive Oil of Lesvos to get to know the olive oil production process, where through an interactive application we will check what we have learned. Then we will have traditional lunch in a local kafeneio and we will continue to ancient Pyrra where we will enjoy a coffee before returning to Plomari. Ancient Pyrra was one of the six ancient cities of Lesvos (Mytilene, Mithymna, Antisa, Pyrra Eressos, Arisvi). The city was blasted in the altitude of Vouvaris. Its existence dates back to the 10th-8th century BC until 231 BC, where it was destroyed by a powerful earthquake. When the sea is serene, its possible to see there are sections of the ancient harbor, ruins of houses, etc.
