Plomari – Place idyllic and mysterious. Plomari perched on the slope of Prophet Elias with amphitheatrical view to the surrounding hills. Each hill and a chapel, each chapel and a different view of this wonderful place. Today we will climb with our 4×4 SUV on the Koutroulia Hill, where we will meet the church of Our Lady of Gorgoipikoos. The chapel is dedicated to the grace of the Virgin Mary’s Eve. In Koutroulia, on 15 August, the Virgin Mary is celebrated with great participation of the faithful. At that day Plomaritans from all over the area gather up to celebrate the day. Church has cells, small houses, for people to stay there from 1st to 15th August. For the trekking lovers we can have a small walk approximately 20 mins to Saint Anna a little church to the next hill next to the sea with a great view of Plomari, different from the Koutroulia. Returning, we will meet Mr. Doukas where he will explain the process of “trahanas” and we will have the opportunity to taste a delicious freshly traditional cooked bowl of trahanas soup made of pure wheat and milk. If it is the right season we will have the opportunity to try fresh trachanas rather than soup served in the traditional way on the brim. After shutting down images, smells and flavors deep into our memory, we will take the way back.
